From the get-go, both anime are based on exorcist manga. Yuji Itadori from Jujutsu Kaisen entered the world of Jujutsu sorcerers after he became the vessel of Ryomen Sukuna, the king of curses. On the other hand, Chainsaw Man’s Denji had his life changed when his devil pet, Pochita, decided to become his heart, and he was taken in by the devil hunters. Both protagonists exorcise cursed spirits or devils. However, this is not the first time this kind of concept was made. So, how are these two popular shows similar, and is there a possibility that they come from the same universe, as fans hope? While Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen share a lot of similarities, they have their differences as well. In Chainsaw Man, Denji’s devil pet, Pochita, became his heart to bring him back to life. These two male protagonists have entities inside of them, resulting in their integration into the world of Jujutsu sorcerers and devil hunters for Yuji and Denji, respectively. Both characters are jovial and extroverted men with a deep sense of empathy toward other people. Moreover, they will not think twice before helping others even if it risks their lives. Even if both of them are not that intelligent as compared to the other characters, they know how to create the perfect strategy to win each fight. The devils become harder to eliminate when more humans fear them. The only way to weaken devils is to eliminate people’s fear of them. With this similarity, a lot of people think that Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man come from the same universe. Unfortunately, they do not. There are no cursed spirits in Chainsaw Man and at the same time, there are no devils in Jujutsu Kaisen. They have to give their best in every fight to guarantee a win and survive. But sometimes, it comes with dire consequences. In fact, both anime do not shy away from showing the deaths of many well-loved characters. It is truly unfortunate but these add complex layers to each series’ respective story. Hence, they are loved and anticipated by so many. YOU MIGHT LIKE: Who Dies and Who Survives in Chainsaw Man? Both characters are quiet and reserved yet possess impressive fighting abilities. They also keep the balance in their respective groups or trios and usually lead the team whenever necessary. Furthermore, Aki and Megumi both use the word “kon” whenever they activate their abilities. Megumi says “kon” whenever he summons the shikigami from his shadows while Aki says it when he summons the Fox Devil he made a contract with. However, the task proves to be much more difficult as the Gun Devil’s parts are difficult to find and involve a lot of dangerous missions to complete. The same could be said about Yuji as he was tasked to retrieve all of Sukuna’s fingers. Even if they have other missions to accomplish, they both have to prioritize their retrieval/collecting mission as the main task. Of course, their respective tasks are not simple, and continuously risk their lives. It is interesting to know that two great manga made by different authors share similar concepts but still have their own charm as well.
