Don’t be fooled though—the plot itself gives off the opposite vibe. Two people walk into a bar (this isn’t a joke, I swear) and find out they’ve died. The bar is inside a tower that represents the afterlife. They’re greeted by the bartender-slash-arbiter Decim, who’ll judge whether these people should be reincarnated or sent to the void. To judge them, these people must participate in a game. No matter what the game is—air hockey, darts, cards, and the like, the people are reminded of their memories. This reveals their true nature as they reflect on the past, which lets Decim decide accordingly. People who love psychological anime and questioning morals are bound to love this show. Although for some it might get too heavy, so don’t forget to look at the trigger warnings first. Basically, all they do in the club is play games and get into various shenanigans. From a character having a butt that shoots out lasers to the exaggerated animation of being slapped in the face, the off-beat humor of this series is bound to attract watchers who just want to relax and have a laugh. The stark contrast between the opening theme “Three Piece” and the ending theme “Inkya Impulse” add perfectly to the chaotic vibe of the comedy anime. That was just the beginning. All these hired criminals were set to go on a heist that involved stealing something from the Shinkansen, which in this setting is backed up with high security. One of them isn’t actually a criminal but is simply a character called Ordinary Person, who got dragged into the whole mess. Unknown to the others, she now has to keep up with the appearance of being called Swindler. I’d recommend this for anyone who plays the Persona series. The art style is noticeably different from the usual ones, with some of the scenes featuring semi-realistic art making the frames look like mixed media artwork. The plot gets really dark, so I suggest you look through the trigger warnings first before watching. The dense boy turns out to be the author of a shoujo manga, and he thought that Sakura was a fan. A sudden turn of events results in Sakura ending up as one of Nozaki’s assistants. This lighthearted comedy series pokes fun at many romance tropes. Throughout the story, Sakura tries her best to make her feelings known. Nozaki’s obliviousness to her actions makes it funnier knowing that this guy is a shoujo mangaka writing about romance.
