As it turns out, according to online scooper KC Walsh, Michael Keaton originally filmed a cameo scene in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Now that the sequel is set to be released before The Flash, the studio decided to replace him and reshoot the scene with Ben Affleck to avoid continuity issues.

The scoop was also confirmed by another insider MyTimeToShineHello, who agreed that Affleck was being brought in to replace Keaton’s cameo and avoid the continuity scenes as a result of the release date changes earlier this year.

Now that we have the picture of Affleck’s appearance, it looks like we’re only going to expect a cameo role from the actor during a post-credits scene instead of a substantial appearance like what some fans are hoping for when the news came. Either way, it is still exciting to know that Affleck will appear in the film even in a small cameo.

It is also understandable that Warner Bros. and DC decided to make the decision to avoid the continuity issues with the release date shuffles that they did as well as avoid confusing the audience, who might get perplexed to see Keaton show up before his official comeback in The Flash.

It is hard to tell right now why Batman/Bruce Wayne will show up for a cameo in the film and what kind of event it will lead to. It is also another indication that Keaton is soon to be replacing Affleck as the DCEU’s Batman which is what’s been rumored for some time now. Of course, we will never know the specifics until we see the films next year.
