Arcane Season 2 Confirmation Status: Has Netflix officially confirmed a new season?
Just shortly after Arcane Season 1, Act 3 (the last 3 episodes of the first season) was released on Netflix in November 20, Netflix and Riot Games officially confirmed that Arcane Season 2 is in development.
“We’re beyond happy about the positive response to Arcane’s first season and are working hard with the creative wizards at Riot and Fortiche to deliver our second installment,” said Arcane co-creators Alex Yee and Christian Linke in a statement. Considering the overwhelmingly positive reception from fans and critics for Arcane Season 1 since its premiere on November 6, 2021, it’s not surprising that the animated series set in the world of Riot Games’ popular MOBA game has been renewed for Season 2.
Arcane Season 2 Release Date: When will the next season be released on Netflix?
Netflix hasn’t officially announced a release date for Arcane Season 2 yet, though if production is already underway, it’s likely that the new episodes will be released in 2023. Hopefully, the production doesn’t face any more delays after the production of Season 2 was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which pushed Arcane’s planned 2020 release date to 2021. Riot Games provided an explanation to the delay of Season 1. Greg Street (also known as Ghostcrawler), Head of Creative Development for Riot Games, said: “Creative development and production is hard, especially in a world where you can’t see your coworkers IRL. We have video meetings now, which help, but they are no substitute for being in a room where we can really get the creative energy flowing. Combine these issues, along with the technical difficulties of production at the international scale, and the problem becomes a lot bigger.” In January 2022, co-creator and Executive Producer of Toonami, Jason DeMarco, opened up about how it took six years and an insane amount of budget to create Arcane. Hopefully, it won’t take that long to develop Season 2. We double-checked Netlfix’s schedule of upcoming movies and TV shows in November 2022, and as expected, Arcane Season 2 is not included in the list.
Arcane Season 2 Cast: Who will return and who are the newcomers?
As part of the Arcane Season 2 announcement, Netflix and Riot Games already confirmed that Hailee Steinfeld (Vi), Ella Purnell (Jinx) and Katie Leung (Caitlyn Kiramman) will reprise their voice roles. The Season 2 announcement teaser featured their voices, but the rest are still under wraps, but expect the other cast members from Season 2 reprise their roles in Season 2, including:

During Netflix’s Geek Week 2022 virtual event, Jinx voice actress Ella Purnell acknowledged that she already started working on Arcane Season 2, but she didn’t want to spill any details.
Arcane Season 2 Trailer: Is there a teaser or full trailer already?
Netflix’s announcement was accompanied by a short clip confirming the release of Season 2, but it doesn’t feature any new footage.
It would probably take months before a full trailer is released, but we will update this article when it arrives. The preview for Netflix Geeked Week this June features Arcane, but nothing new for the upcoming season.

Arcane Season 2 Plot: What will happen in the next season of the League of Legends animated series?
Netflix hasn’t announced an official plot synopsis for Arcane Season 2 yet, but we can speculate how the early episodes might unfold given how Season 1 ended with an explosive cliffhanger. In Episode 9 of Arcane, The Monster You Created, just after the dramatic dinner scene with Jinx accidentally killing Silco, Jayce (voiced by Kevin Alejandro) initiate a Council vote to give Zaun independence. The vote passed, but Jinx (Ella Purnell), who was traumatized after the death of Silco, fired a powerful Hextech rocket at the Council building. With tensions high between Piltover and Zaun, it’s likely that the early episodes of Arcane Season 2 will escalate the conflict between the two cities and result in the vote of Zaun’s independence being cancelled, most likely for good. Now that Silco is gone, League of Legends fans are speculating on who will become the primary villain of Arcane Season 2, with many predicting that Viktor, who was more apathetic and cruel in the MOBA game than his Netflix counterpart, will be a major villain. However, there are other League of Legends villains that fans are speculating to see, so don’t expect Viktor to be the only threat in the sequel. Here are the other League of Legends characters speculated to debut in Arcane: Darius, Blitzcrank, Dr. Mundo, Ziggs, Orianna, Twitch, Urgot, Camille, and Warwick. Arcane co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee answered some questions from fans in a Reddit AMA, and when they were asked to describe Season 2 in a single word, Linke said “war”. When asked if Jinx and Ekko would have more interactions in Season 2, Linke also said, “oh yes”, but the show’s co-creator stayed silent on whether or not the second season will be the final season.

Riot Games announces new equity investment in Arcane animation studio Fortiche Production
On March 14, Riot Games and Fortiche Production, the Paris-based animation studio behind Arcane, announced a new equity investment by Riot in Fortiche.
