Bassam Tariq took his praises to his Instagram, announcing about Yann Demange helming the film, and how ‘instrumental’ Demange had been in helping Tariq with his own career, too, with Mogul Mowgli. Check out Tariq’s Instagram post below:

“As he steps into this role, I am proud to support him as he has supported me.”

Blade was released back in 1998 starring Wesley Snipes, and upon this Blade reboot, we’ll be seeing Mahershala Ali as Snipes’ predecessor in the role. While Yann Demange is celebrated for being the new director for the reboot, he still has to prove himself in making this movie a success for the studio.

Meanwhile, Blade centers on Eric Brooks, or more commonly known as Blade, who gained vampiric abilities after his mother got bitten by the creature during her pregnancy with him. Orphaned by this bite, Eric uses his supernatural abilities to hunt down vampires who have been preying on humanity.

Blade actually made a semi-debut in the MCU during the post-credits scene in Eternals, where his voice was heard, asking Dane Whitman if he is ready to take on the challenge of his family name. It is interesting to see how this MCU version of Blade will contribute in expanding the universe. Mahershala Ali has even bigger shoes to fill with this role, which we will soon be seeing once it premieres.

Marvel’s Blade is set to be released on September 6, 2024.
