In a recent quick interview with ComicBook.com about Cretton’s upcoming American Born Chinese series at the New York Comic Con, when asked by reporter if Cretton is ‘the man for Avengers: Kang Dynasty’, the director teased at first, pretending to have no knowledge about it, until he finally says, “I think so”, confirming to the public that he will be in the director’s chair for The Kang Dynasty.

While no other news are circulating aside from his involvement as director, fans are expecting Jonathan Majors to take part in the film to reprise his previous role as Kang the Conqueror within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically, his character debut in Loki season 1. Majors will reportedly also be included as Kang next February as the primary antagonist in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Cretton also revealed that American Born Chinese, an upcoming streaming series on Disney+ based on the graphic novel of the same name, will comprise of a number familiar faces in the project due to the ‘action-heavy nature of the show.’

“Quite a bit, and we actually brought a bunch of the team from Shang-Chi in to help with the action design, the costumes,” Cretton explains, “There’s a lot of Shang-Chi influence in this just naturally with the people that we brought on.”

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is set to be released on May 2, 2025.
