Tom Felton and Emma Watson are known for their roles as Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films. They first met at the auditions, Felton was 12 and she was 9. “There was a definite Gryffindor/Slytherin divide in the early days,” Felton says on Insider, “Two cliques that kept their distance from each other, largely because we didn’t spend that much time working together.”

Despite Felton’s statement, he adds that they “weren’t unfriendly to each other by any means” but were aware of the differences between their upbringings and tastes. He admits he and his friends on set were just being ‘shitty boys’ by making fun of Emma for wanting to perform a dance show for the cast during lunchtime. Read Felton’s story below:

Felton had been opening up a lot and giving more insightful experiences to fans about Alan Rickman swearing at him, being embarrassed for playing Draco, and how J.K. Rowling hadn’t been that involved in the shooting as much as we thought. Upon the passing of an old friend, Hagrid’s actor Robbie Coltrane, he paid tribute by writing about him. As the years passed, of course, the cast eventually grew fond of each other to move forward from childish incidents such as this.
