Specifically, Kuroko’s Basketball creator Tadatoshi Fujimaki is the next manga artist to be part of the Dragon Ball Super Gallery Project. As part of this project, Fujimaki will create his own take on a particular Dragon Ball volume cover. The Gallery Project has been ongoing for quite some time now, and it has seen various popular manga artists do their own takes on Dragon Ball artwork.
Just last September, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations artist Mikio Ikemoto shared his take on Dragon Ball Volume 7. Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball is one of the most popular Japanese media franchises of all time. It started with the original manga series that ran from December 1984 to June 1995 in Weekly Shonen Jump.
Aside from being one of the bestselling manga of all time, the manga spawned an iconic TV anime adaptation by Toei Animation, numerous anime films, games, and others. Meanwhile, Kuroko’s Basketball (or Kuroko no Basuke in Japanese) is another Weekly Shonen Jump manga that ran from December 2008 to September 2014. The series was a big hit, enough that it received an anime series adaptation by Production I.G., as well as an anime film and several stage adaptations.
The ongoing gallery project will feature 42 unique covers drawn by different Shueisha manga artists, and it will run until November 2024. As of now, notable authors such as Tatsuki Fujimoto, Tite Kubo, Tatsuya Endo, Masashi Kishimoto, and more have released art for the project. Currently, 15 manga artists have drawn their own takes on Toriyama’s iconic volume covers. These include:
