Fullmetal Alchemist: One of the Greatest Anime Series
Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the most popular shonen anime globally, and it is also one of the most acclaimed as the Brotherhood series is still the top-rated anime of all time on MyAnimeList. Given its popularity, it’s no surprise that it’s the next anime to get the stage play treatment. In case you’re unfamiliar though, Fullmetal Alchemist began as a manga series by Hiromu Arakawa that was serialized in Monthly Shonen Gangan from July 2001 to June 2010. It received an anime series adaptation of the same name by studio Bones that aired from 2003 to 2004. Though this first anime deviated from the manga’s story halfway through its run. In April 2009, another TV anime adaptation began airing. Entitled Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, this anime is a more faithful adaptation of the original manga. It aired until July 2010 and featured 64 episodes in total. While the series’ story ended there, the franchise continued to get new releases in the form of video games, as well as live-action adaptations. The first live-action film was released in 2017, and it was followed by two sequels that were released on Netflix.
