The official trailer for the upcoming Scream sequel has been a long time coming, and it arrives after several months of stories surrounding Neve Campbell’s exit from the project, and reveals from the cast and crew.

This is our first look at the film, which sees the Woodsboro survivors from this year’s Scream (2022) - with of course the exception of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) - living in New York City, where even more terror awaits.

Check out the brand-new trailer for Scream 6 below:

While the teaser doesn’t reveal all that much (we guess that’s kind of the whole point), it does offer a slice of what we can expect, and this time, it looks like Ghostface is prepared to stalk our Woodsboro survivors in public.

Recently, actress Melissa Barrera, who plays Sam Carpenter, talked about how Ghostface will be chasing victims through Times Square. So it sounds like Scream 6 will be more creative when it comes to the cat-and-mouse stuff.

Jenna Ortega, who plays Melissa’s on-screen sister Tara Carpenter, also revealed that the film will be “a hundred times gorier” than the previous Scream movies, saying that it will be both “action-heavy” and “gore-heavy”.

While we don’t get a sense of this from the trailer, the new Ghostface killer certainly makes a bold move when they grab Mindy Meeks (Jasmin Savoy Brown) by the throat in the middle of a crowded subway train.

The teaser shows the Scooby Gang riding the train while they’re surrounded by several people in costume - presumably comic convention attendees - when they notice a number of Ghostface cosplayers.

However, one of the Ghostfaces takes a shine as they enter into a staring contest. Is this the Ghostface killer? Or one of them, at least? Who knows - maybe this time there will be more than two killers!

Either way, with a release date of March 10, we don’t have long to find out…

Scream 6 stars Jenna Ortega (Tara Carpenter), Melissa Barrera (Sam Carpenter), Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers), Hayden Panettiere (Kirby Reed), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy Meeks), and Mason Gooding (Chad Meeks).

Newcomers are Dermot Mulroney, Henry Czerny, Tony Revolori, Jack Champion, Devyn Nekoda, Liana Liberato, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving in undisclosed roles.

A brief synopsis for the upcoming sequel is as follows:

The film continues with the survivors of the latest Ghostface killings, sisters Samantha and Tara Carpenter and twins Chad and Mindy Meeks, leaving Woodsboro behind and starting a new chapter of their lives in New York City only to again be plagued by a streak of murders by a new Ghostface killer.

Scream 6 will be released in theaters on March 10, 2023.
