When we first meet Alicent Hightower, she is portrayed as a modest and well-mannered young girl who is careful with the way she acts around royalty. But she is now the Queen and Alicent is gradually taking to her new role. In the first few episodes of House of the Dragon, Alicent chooses dresses that are modest, occasionally opting to display her shoulders. But things changed after Alicent is told by her father that Rhaenyra Targaryen will be a threat to her children if the princess remains heir (also, Alicent learns that Rhaenyra lied about not having sex). For Rhaenyra’s royal wedding, the queen times her entrance to interrupt the king’s speech and steals the show by wearing a gorgeously sexy green dress.

The dress is certainly different from anything Alicent Hightower has worn before. Although the bodice is modest, it shows off her shoulders and is cut all the way down the front, offering a glimpse at her cleavage. Moreover, it is explained by Larys Strong that the beacon on the Hightower glows green when Oldtown calls its banners to war. With that in mind, Alicent is clearly getting ready for a battle against her former friend. That’s not the only evidence that Alicent Hightower has shifted her allegiance. Once she gets to the table, she addresses Rhaenyra as “step-daughter,” a cold change from how she affectionally speaks to the princess. Looks like a war is brewing and Westeros will be caught in the middle of it. House of the Dragon Episode 5 is now streaming on HBO Max. House of the Dragon Episode 6 is titled The Princess and The Queen and will premiere on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at 9:00 PM EST.
