What Is Chainsaw Man About?

Chainsaw Man is based on a shonen manga written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto, who is also the author of Fire Punch. Set in an alternate timeline where certain historical events have not happened or have unfolded differently, Chainsaw Man features a scary world where devils emerge from human fears. These can be malevolent beings, though they might also help humans and even form contracts with them. The main character, Denji, lives in poverty, working as a Devil Hunter - a person who hunts and employs demons to forge contracts with humans - in order to pay off his dead father’s debts. He’s accompanied by his pet Pochita, a Chainsaw devil. When he outlives his usefulness, Denji is betrayed and murdered. At that point, Pochita offers to merge with him. From that point, Denji becomes the titular Chainsaw Man, a hybrid creature with the ability to transform parts of his body into chainsaws. Immediately, Denji’s recruited by Makima, who offers to let him live if he works for her by fighting devils. Denji readily accepts. But will he get his dream to live a normal life this time around?

Chainsaw Man is going to air on Netflix Japan from 13 October 2022, though at the time of writing, there are no known plans for the anime to be available on Netflix worldwide. Instead, it is scheduled for the Fall 2022 lineup of Crunchyroll. In July 2022, a Reddit thread was created, titled “Chainsaw Man anime will be available on Netflix this fall.” The Reddit post was based on a Tweet that has since been deleted, likely being from an unofficial source. When Will Chainsaw Man Release on Netflix?
