As head of the Hermes Familia, Hermes is a responsible God. Most would think that is just a casual God with a very playful personality but he is more than that. Hermes is sociable, open, and confident. He doesn’t get himself involved with issues and would usually go for the neutral position. He focuses more on his job as an entrepreneur and plans to continue providing high-quality merchandise for his clients.
Is Hermes Evil in DanMachi?
While it is true that Hermes isn’t the nicest character in DanMachi, he is not that evil as well. Hermes is known to be loyal to Zeus and follow all of his commands. This could mean that whatever Zeus wants, Hermes supports him. He is cunning, sharp, and shrewd, which makes it hard to fully trust him. He is also a pervert who enjoys spying on beautiful women whenever they take a bath. This personality isn’t surprising considering that Zeus believes that it is a man’s duty to have a harem. In addition, Hermes is a skilled manipulator. He doesn’t have any problems with outwitting Gods and mortals as long as it will fit his plans. Hermes also has a different way of finding the new hero. He would train Bell to make him the best yet expose him to the grotesque side. He believes that doing this can test if Bell is deserving or not. What is interesting is that Hermes is not entirely bad. He genuinely cares about the world, including its people. He wants to make sure that everyone is alright and safe. Hermes is generous as well, to the point that he rescued Asi from her former life. He is also a good friend as seen when he helped Bell dance with his crush. Hermes was not made to be the perfect God. He has his flaws, he has his own ideals, and yet he still has a good side of him. He might be considered “bad” but to consider him evil is just too much especially when he has still some good qualities.
