The Rush Hour franchise began in 1998 and has since been a box office hit. It was succeeded by two more films, which were released in 2001 (Rush Hour 2) and 2007 (Rush Hour 3). Rumors of a fourth film began circulating as early as 2017. The reports revealed that the film would go into production in 2018 but it didn’t happen. Jackie Chan’s management released a statement that he did not agree to be in the film yet. Still, the two lead actors, Chan and Chris Tucker, seemed to be excited to be on board and make a return.

Years later and we’re finally getting an update on the fourth film. According to Chan (via Deadline), the movie is in the early stages of development. No, filming hasn’t started but the writers are already discussing the potential storyline for the movie.

Who Will Direct Rush Hour 4?

The legendary action star also revealed that the film already has a director. However, Chan did not reveal who the new director was. The previous films were directed by Brett Ratner. But since Ratner has been accused of sexual harrassment and misconduct, he hasn’t directed a film since 2014.

Who’ll Be Part of Rush Hour 4 Cast?

It won’t be Rush Hour without Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker returning to reprise their iconic roles as Chief Inspector Lee and Detective James Carter, respectively. Aside from the two main leads, we don’t know yet who’ll be part of Rush Hour 4 cast.

When Is Rush Hour 4 Coming Out?

At this time of posting, it’s too early to tell when Rush Hour 4 will be coming out. The film is in its early stages of development. If the film starts filming in 2023, it’s possible that we could see a Rush Hour 4 release date in summer 2024. We’ll update this post once more information on Rush Hour 4 becomes available.
