Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern was released back in 2011 and although this was supposed to kickstart a franchise, future plans had been canceled by DC and Warner Bros. Seeing as the film was published before the building of the DCU began, it is only natural that making one especially made for the DCU would make sense.

Gunn took to Twitter his response to the fan question. When asked whether or not Ryan Reynolds could potentially return as the Green Lantern, Gunn says, “That’s not a priority for me and even much less of one for @VancityReynolds.” Check out his reply below:

However, in light of Reynolds’ zero chances of returning to reprise the character, the DC head reassures fans that Green Lantern content is in the making for the studio, perhaps with a different actor in mind.

Gunn might be on the money on this one. Reynolds is setting off for bigger projects as his Deadpool 3 film will be featuring big returnees and cameos such as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and seemingly, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, all the while the threequel will be moving in to officially become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We won’t be seeing Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern anymore, but Deadpool 3 is set to premiere on November 8, 2024.
