Principal photography for the series also started before the Locke and Key season 2 premiered, with the cast and crew getting to work in May 2021. Filming ended sometime in late September 2021.

The first two seasons of Locke and Key came with ten episodes each, but the third season of Locke and Key will only have eight episodes. The creative team of the show chose to shorten the number of episodes for the series, so we can expect each episode to be more action-packed than the last.
