Alongside the other movies and series they have developed in the past few years, Marvel and Disney+‘s Loki was a runaway success, and we didn’t have to wait long before the series renewal was announced. We are now poised to see Loki Season 2 soon, as the studios continue to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Loki spoilers ahead The first season of Loki tells the story of the god of mischief right after his escape in the Endgame. He was captured by the Time Variance Authority and was then recruited to help Agent Mobius catch the villains altering the timelines. Disney has recently announced new characters and new creators joining the mix, which tells us that production is undoubtedly underway for the second season. There have even been reports about an Alligator Loki comic book spin-off. With so many exciting new developments, we can hardly wait for the new season to come out. Here are some of the things we know about the series to help tide you over until the official release of Loki Season 2.

Loki Season 2 Release Date: When Will the Series Come Out?

During the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige announced a narrowed release window for Loki Season 2, which will start streaming by Summer 2023. Marvel Studio president Kevin Feige first said in 2021 that the series may not start shooting until 2023, but recent updates from the various sources and members of the cast themselves suggest that principal photography for the series may begin anytime this year, with the latest news saying that the season will start production on June 6, 2022. An Instagram post from the cinematographer of the series in early June confirmed that production did start on time. A tweet from the account MCU_Updates (@vr_mcu) also confirmed that production for the series is on-going. Now that production is on the way, we may see the first few episodes around the first quarter of 2023, which confirms fan speculations that the season will be released after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Loki Season 2 Ratings

A week before the annual Disney+ Day event, two of Marvel’s biggest upcoming shows receive their rating. We learned that Loki season 2 and What If…? season 2 both receive a TV-14 rating, which means that the show has scenes and themes that may not be appropriate for viewers under 14 years of age. This doesn’t mean the kids can’t watch Loki season 2, however, the ratings strongly recommend that the kids should watch the series with an adult.

Loki Season 2 Cast: Who are the Actors Included in the Series?

Aside from the main character of the series (because what is Loki without Loki himself), there have only been a few confirmations about who will be returning to reprise their roles for Loki Season 2.

Tom Hiddleston is Loki

Tom Hiddleston will still play the Loki we know from the first few Marvel phases, and Owen Wilson will also still play Agent Mobius, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw will also come back to play Ravonna Renslayer. Tom Hiddleston recently appeared as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he spoke about Loki 2 and the other cast members.

Other Loki Cast Members

We can also expect the return of certain cast members based on the ending of the first season. Wunmi Mosaku may return as Hunter B-15 after meeting her alternate reality version met Loki in another Time Variance Authority existing in an alternate universe. We may also see Eugene Cordero return as Casey, the adorable TVA office worker. Tara Strong may also return as the voice for the infamous Miss Minutes.

Sophie Di Martino is Sylvie

Out of all the characters and Loki variants, Sylvie is the one whose fate we are still unsure of. Season 1 saw Sylvie finally fulfilling her goal - killing He Who Remain, but this comes with a great price. Sophia Di Martino played Sylvie, and though she has hinted that she may return for Loki Season 2, there have been no official confirmations of her participating. Through Twitter user @ashes_ana, we got a first look at Sylvie for Season 2. Apparently, Sylvie now has a new job - based on the uniform she is wearing, she is a part of the McDonalds’ crew. We also get to see more Sylvie wearing outfits, from regular clothing to her Asgardian armor, thanks to @varianart_.

Rafael Casal Joins Loki

Marvel executives have been pretty stingy with sharing news about the cast of Loki, but we soon learned the identity of one rumored cast member - Rafael Casal. Sometime in July, we also saw set pictures from the same Twitter user confirming that Rafael Casal is joining Loki Season 2. We still do not know who his character will be, but we do know that it is a major role in the series.

Ke Huy Quan joins Loki

Loki was one of the most awaited shows in the entire 2022 D23 Expo. During the presentation for the show, we learn that Ke Huy Qaun joined the series in a yet undisclosed role. Ke Huy Quan is probably most famous for his contributions in the 2022 film Everything, Everywhere, All At Once.

Henry Cavill as Hyperion

There have been rumors going around the rumor mill that Henry Cavill, who played DC’s Superman and Geralt of Rivia in the Witcher, will be playing Hyperion in Loki season 2. Though this is still unconfirmed, fans of the show are split between actually loving the idea and finding it ridiculous. In the comic books, Hyperion comes from a race of Eternals but was sent to Earth, where he was raised by human parents who called him Marcus Milton. His life as a superhero is turned upside down when his universe collides with another, ending his reality as he knows it.

Loki Season 2 Crew: Who are the Creatives Behind the Scenes?

Michael Waldron wrote the script first season, but he will be producing the entire second season instead, with Eric Martin now taking the lead to write all the series’ six episodes. Kate Herron directed Loki Season 1, but she will not be returning to direct Season. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who previously directed at least two episodes of Moon Knight, will be leading Loki Season 2. Benson and Moorhead are known for preferring horror and supernatural storytelling, so we may expect to see darker themes for Loki Season 2. Isaac Bauman, the lead cinematographer of the show, took to Instagram in June to give an update on Loki.

Loki Season 2 Set Photos

Through the post of @bestoftwh, we caught glimpses of the set of Loki Season 2 while they were filming. In the photos, we see Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Owen Wilson’s Mobius sporting their TVA attires. Could this mean that the two are back working with the TVA? Is this a potential set-up for other Variants to come up in the next season? We have so many questions, and hopefully, the variant of Loki we know will answer them when Season 2 arrives.

Loki at McDonald’s

New updates from the set of the series show Loki sitting inside McDonald’s, as reported by Direct. This coincides with Sylvie’s work outfit, so we may see more of the fast food chain in the series.

Loki Season 2 Plot: What Will be the Series Story?

Loki Season 1 ended with Loki ending up in an alternate Time Variance Authority, where the same people worked, but none of them knew who Loki was. Kang also ruled this TVA. This open-ended finale leaves a plethora of probabilities for the second season to pick up on.

Loki Season 2 Potential Plot

Loki Season 2 could start with Loki being reintroduced and interrogated, yet again, by Mobius. This could either lead to Loki joining forces with Mobius after Loki reveals the real identity of Kang the Conqueror and the dangers that he poses for the multiverse and the different timelines. Loki could end up teaching Mobius everything he knows about He Who Remains as they become partners once again. This possibility means we get to learn more about the history of the TVA and how it works, with Loki Season 2 finally taking a closer look into the complex moralities that happen within the organization. Loki could also opt to kill He Who Remains, following Sylvie’s path, as he now becomes the hero we all know he could be. Speaking of Sylvie, we could also see her trying to be reunited with Loki. We may also further explore Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s story for Ravonna Renslayer may also be explored further in the second season as she ventures out to find who has been feeding her lies. We already know that this was the doing of He Who Remains, but the last few episodes of the season already showed us that Sylvie killed He Who Remains. We may also get to learn more about the other characters in the series, like Casey and Renslayer. In the comic books, Renslayer is the love interest of Kang the Conqueror.

Rumors of a Brand New Villain Who Will ‘Break the Internet

There have been rumors going around that a famous actor will play a new villain who will join the Marvel Multiverse. We still have no idea who this actor is and which character they will be playing. The claim was made by an MCU leaker known as CineStealth, who has previously shared accurate insider information about other films and shows.

Loki Season 2 Trailer: Is There a Trailer for the New Marvel Series?

There is currently no trailer for Loki Season 2. You can re-watch the trailer of the first season here: We can expect to see a trailer for the new season of Loki during Disney’s D23 expo, which will occur from September 9 to 11, 2022, in Anaheim, California.

D23 Expo 2022 Closed Door Exclusive Footage

During the 2022 D23 Expo, the presentation for Loki season 2 included an exclusive clip that was revealed behind closed doors. GamesRadar offered an overview of the footage, saying that it was even creepier than the first season. The clip reportedly showed Loki revealing the face of Khan behind one of the walls in the TVA and showing it to Moebius. Loki then says he saw terrible things being ripped across time. The trailer also confirmed that fan-favorite Loki characters will be returning for the second season, with some Loki variants traveling through time.

Where to Watch Loki Season 2: Where Can I Watch the Series?

Loki Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ and will remain under the streaming service for some time. You can also watch the first season of the Loki franchise on Disney+.

Loki Season 2 will help introduce viewers to the other movies and series that will come out in Marvel’s Phase 5. The Kang the Conqueror variant of He Who Remains will be the villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The time variance and the multiverse introduced in Loki may also take merge in the new Fantastic Four MCU film because of Kang the Conqueror’s connection to the Fantastic Four villain, Doctor Doom. Other Kang the Conqueror variants are also the villains in other new Marvel movies like Iron Lad in Armor Wars starring Don Cheadle as War Machine aka James Rhodes. With so much potential in-store, we are sure that Loki Season 2 will be worth the wait.
