To mark the end of 2022, Animate Times recently published the results of their poll which asked Japanese anime fans who their favorite character of the year was. If you followed the top anime hits of 2022, you likely won’t be surprised by the results of the poll.
LycoReco Characters Top Animate Times Poll
Topping the poll is Chisato Nishigiki, one of Lycoris Recoil’s main characters. According to poll participants, Chisato’s bubbly personality and mysterious past make her a compelling and memorable character. Meanwhile, Chisato’s partner Takina Inoue is also one of the most popular characters of the year as she took third place in the recent poll. Fans specifically mentioned how they loved Takina’s sakana moment in the anime. Lycoris Recoil was arguably the top anime of the Summer 2022 season, especially in Japan. Many fans consider it one of the best of the season thanks in large part to its charming cast of characters along with its impressive animation. The fact that the series is an original anime makes LycoReco’s popularity even more impressive. Animate Times Most Popular Anime Characters of 2022
Of course, LycoReco’s main heroines aren’t the only noteworthy anime characters of 2022. Here is the complete list of the top 20 characters based on the recent Japanese poll: Coming in between Chisato and Takina is the ever-popular Anya Forger. Again, this isn’t surprising given how big of a hit Spy x Family is. Rounding out the top 5 are Bocchi and Marin Kitagawa who are the main characters of two other hit shows of 2022. Most of the characters in the poll are from anime that premiered in 2022. So, it’ll be interesting to see if new anime characters also dominate 2023.
