Last week, Kyle McCarley shared his experience with Crunchyroll in a video on his YouTube channel. According to the voice actor, it is unlikely that he will return as the voice of Mob in Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 because using a SAG-AFTRA contract is “not something that [Crunchyroll] want to do.” “I just wanted to let you guys know that unless things change, you’re probably going to be hearing at least one unfamiliar voice on Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 – maybe more,” McCarley stated.

Since then, Crunchyroll has confirmed that Mob will be recast in the anime’s third season. That’s when the official SAG-AFTRA Twitter account shared their reaction to the whole drama. “Hey #mobpsycho100 fans, your favorite character has been recast because @crunchyroll @sonypictures refuses to even talk about a union contract. It’s #justameeting,” the tweet read.

For now, Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures have not issued a statement about their consideration of using union contracts. In the meantime, Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 will feature a new voice actor to provide Mob’s English dubbing. Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 will bring back Setsuo Ito as Mob, Takahiro Sakurai as Arataka Reigen, Akio Ohtsuka as Ekubo, Miyu Irino as Ritsu Kageyama, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Teruki Hanazawa. They will be joined by Takanori Hoshino as Serizawa, Atsumi Tanezaki as Tome Kurata, Uki Satake as Tsubomi, Ayumi Fujimura as Ichi Mezato, Toshihiko Seki as Musashi Goda, and Yoshimasa Hosoya as Tenga Onigawara. The third season is set to premiere on October 6, 2022.
