1899 comes from Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, the creators of the critically-acclaimed German time travel series, Dark. Both are producers and showrunners of 1899. Odar is credited as director, while Friese is credited with the writing. The show also stars Anton Lesser (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), Alexandre Willaume (The Wheel of Time), Aneurin Barnard (Dunkirk), Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen (The Rain), Mathilde Ollivier (Overlord) as Clémence, Miguel Bernardeau (Elite), Richard Hope (Piece of Cake), Clara Rosager (Morbius) as Tove, and Jonas Bloquet (Elle) as Lucien among others.
