Fall 2022 Isekai Anime
As with practically every anime season, a couple of isekai anime shows aired beginning in October. Aside from the highly anticipated The Eminence in Shadow anime adaptation, Fall 2022 also saw the release of Reincarnated as a Sword Season 1. Typically, isekai shows follow a guy who gets transported into a fantasy world where he becomes a powerful adventurer. But over the years, several shows have tried to twist this formula. Some shows go for a comedic take on the genre like what KonoSuba did while other isekai go down the grim and serious route like Re:Zero. Reincarnated as a Sword (Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita in Japanese) is a bit different though. Instead of having a guy be reincarnated as a powerful adventurer, the main character instead finds himself transformed into a sword. Yes, he actually becomes a sword. And while he forgets his name, he still remembers his past life as a human. This sword seeks a powerful being to become his wielder. Soon, he happens upon a caravan of slave traders. In the caravan, a young cat girl slave uses the sword to defeat an attacking bear and free herself from slavery. Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 Release Details
Season 1 of Reincarnated as a Sword premiered on October 5 as part of the stacked Fall 2022 season alongside highly anticipated titles such as Chainsaw Man and Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. Despite not being the most hyped-up show heading into the season, it seems that the series still turned out to be a hit as a second season was confirmed. The second season announcement came with a commercial that did not reveal any new footage. Though a teaser visual was released that features Fran and Teacher. Right now, there’s no word yet regarding a release date for Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2. There’s also no info on how many episodes the second season will have.
