Specifically, the latest episode featured an ending with lots of easter eggs. One of which is likely a quick appearance by Reze, a major character that will appear later in the series.
Reze’s Role in Chainsaw Man
Chainsaw Man is an anime series by MAPPA that’s based on the manga of the same name by Tatsuki Fujimoto. The manga was initially serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from December 2018 to December 2020. Back in July, the series returned with Part 2, though its serialization is now in Jump+. Meanwhile, its anime adaptation began airing last month, and it just released its fifth episode yesterday. Even if you’re not a Chainsaw Man fan, you’ve probably already seen the series’ characters online, whether it’s in fan art or cosplay. The show’s popular characters include the likes of Denji, Aki, Power, Makima, and Reze. Reze plays a big role in an arc that happens around the middle part of the manga series’ initial run. Without getting into spoiler territory, Reze’s appearance and the events that follow it are key moments in the series’ story that have wide-ranging repercussions. Reze herself is also a popular character among manga fans. Aside from appearing on a volume cover, Reze has also been cosplayed by lots of fans all over the world. Reze’s Possible Cameo Appearance
Right now, the anime series has begun the Eternity Devil Arc. In the series’ chronology, the Eternity Devil Arc will be followed by the Katana Man Arc. After the Katana Man Arc, we will get to meet Reze when she debuts in the Bomb Girl Arc. While she has yet to make an official appearance in the anime, it seems that Reze has already appeared in a short cameo in the latest episode’s ending credits, as spotted by Twitter user @rezefans. The new ending credits feature animated sequences that have allusions to the Eternity Devil. Although it’s incredibly tough to spot as it appears in just one frame, some fans have spotted a painting in the ending that seems to resemble Reze. It’s a bit hard to make out, but it is likely Reze. This blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance shouldn’t be too surprising for series fans as the show’s opening and ending themes have lots of easter eggs as well. Chainsaw Man will continue with Episode 6 which will come out next week. Discover more of our insights and the latest anime news by following us on Twitter @epicstreamanime.
