It’s well-documented that Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon didn’t want the actress to wear Wanda’s revealing and oftentimes racy costume in the MCU, something that gave her a great deal of relief. But there have been countless attempts on Marvel’s part to give her something that would at least remind comic readers of the Scarlet Witch.Appearing at the Multiverse of Madness presentation during Disney’s D23 Expo (via The Direct), concept artist Andy Park revealed that long before Wanda got her “comic-accurate” look, he has been attempting to incorporate touches of the character’s traditional appearance but to no avail.According to Park, he wanted to give Maximoff a headband that would resemble Scarlet Witch’s headpiece but the Russos rejected the idea. He recalls: “In Civil War… So still, she is an Avenger in training so she is not a full-on superhero yet. So we are still trying to keep it ‘real world’ with the jacket but not the comics [version]. Still can’t have a crown. I did a version where it is like, ‘Let’s give her a headband’ to allude to the crown.“He continued: “And of course, the Russo Brothers were like ‘I see what you’re trying to do. Nope.
