When the sequel trilogy became a thing, characters like Rey and Finn showed tremendous amounts of potential but of course, we all know how divisive Episodes VII, VIII, and IX turned out to be and by default, those characters were removed from contention. Now, over 40 years after the debut of the science-fiction epic, the debate has been reopened and this time around, an intriguing name has been hailed by many as the ultimate hero of Star Wars. On Reddit, user sostitanic declared R2-D2 as the franchise’s “real” protagonist, and surprisingly enough, the response has been quite unanimous and most fans have valid reasons to support the claim.
