This is why actor John Boyega holds Episode VII near and dear to his heart and for good reason. However, as good as The Force Awakens was, it wasn’t without flaws and the Finn actor isn’t afraid to criticize it. According to the actor, the J.J. Abrams-directed film should have included more Stormtrooper action. He also questions the lack of emphasis Luke Skywalker’s grand return to the franchise had which to him should have been the focal point of The Last Jedi.Speaking with Vanity Fair, Boyega explains: “I’ll always have some level of nostalgia [for The Force Awakens]… To a certain extent, there should have been a Stormtrooper rebellion. And then to flesh out Luke’s character a bit more. Give him more moments of redemption, which I feel like was needed after VIII [The Last Jedi]. I feel like Star Wars fans needed more time with [the old characters] that we love so much.“Also Read: John Boyega Reveals He No Longer Wants Anything to Do with Star Wars This isn’t the first time Boyega aired his frustrations at how Disney handled the sequel trilogy, and I’m guessing his hesitance to reprise his role as Finn most likely stems from the fact that the House of Mouse made several questionable creative decisions that ultimately killed the sequels.Disney’s Star Wars sequel trilogy is available for streaming exclusively on Disney+.
