The outlet’s anonymous source reported that the project, formerly in development at Austin, Texas-based Aspyr Media, is now being developed by Saber Ineractive’s Easter European studios. Embracer Group, which owns both videogame studios, hinted at the change to a new developer in its financial earnings report last week. “One of the Group’s AAA projects has transitioned to another studio within the Group,” it noted. “This was done to ensure the quality bar is where we need it to be for the title. We are not expecting any material delays for the title based on this transition.” Last month, Bloomberg reported that the Knights of the Old Republic remake was “delayed indefinitely” after two directors were fired. Saber Interactive was reportedly named as helping Aspyr with development of the upcoming Star Wars project. The remake has been in development for more than two years, and according to the report by Bloomberg, the bosses at the studio told staff last month that the project was “on pause” as the studio tried to figure out what to do next. The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake was announced last year, after Embracer Group announced months earlier that it had acquired the original developer of the remake for $100 million. Embracer also acquired Saber Interactive in 2020 for $150 million.
