Earlier this year, there were speculations that Barry Keoghan is being considered for the role of Feyd-Rautha in the second Dune film. However, it was later announced that the villain would be played by Elvis star Austin Butler. So was there any truth to the rumors that Barry Keoghan could have been Feyd? The Eternals actor recently spoke to New York Times where he admitted that he tried out for Dune Part 2.
“I really enjoyed that process [of auditioning],” Keoghan said. He then pointed out that he loves Frank Herbert’s work and that he had wanted to work with Timothée Chalamet. “I’m a big fan of Dune, and it would’ve been nice to be part of it. I’m a big fan of Timothée as well,” Keoghan said. He concluded that he has accepted that the role didn’t go to him. “It wasn’t for me. You have to accept that sometimes,” Keoghan stated. We’re loving how gracious Barry Keoghan is about losing out on an epic role in Dune Part 2. Nevertheless, we look forward to Austin Butler’s version of Feyd in the sequel. Dune: Part II is directed by Denis Villeneuve and will bring back Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem. They will be joined by Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux. The second Dune film is scheduled for release on November 3, 2023.
