The new report from Redanian Intelligence reveals how several sources confirmed that Liam Hemsworth was among the frontrunners for the role of Geralt of Rivia when the role was being cast back in 2018. “We don’t know whether he was second behind Cavill or in the Top 3 or Top 5, but he was definitely among the favorites,” the report reads.

As we already know, the producers clearly liked Henry Cavill more for the role. However, it confirms that Liam Hemsworth had been considered for the role even before Cavill decided to leave the series. With that in mind, The Witcher could have always featured Hemsworth as the White Wolf if Cavill had been too busy to take the role in 2018. Last week, Liam Hemsworth was announced to take over as Geralt in The Witcher Season 4 after Henry Cavill’s departure. The actor shared a statement regarding the role. “As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world,” Hemsworth said. Henry Cavill returns as Geralt in The Witcher Season 3 which premieres on Netflix in 2023.
