Speaking with ComicBook.com’s Phase Zero podcast, Giacchino was asked whether he’s interested to direct Blade. While he expressed his love for the character, he ultimately revealed that he will decline if he gets asked since he’s committed to other projects at the moment. “I mean, look, I love Blade. I think that’s an amazing, amazing character. It’s one of my favorites. But I feel like that thing is already in motion in a way that is like and I’m in motion on other things as well, and there’s just… It’s a whole, you know, it’s just, timing-wise, it’s a little crazy,” he said.

“So I feel like, you know, I want that to be a great movie. I want that to be an awesome movie, because that character deserves it in a huge way. But yeah, right now, I mean, no.” Some fans might feel disappointed about this comment from Giacchino, especially since a lot of them were impressed by his work in the recent MCU special and thought that he might bring that to a bigger-scale supernatural project like Blade. Giacchino is also a busy film composer and, as he hinted, he is already attached to work on the other projects for the next several months while Marvel is looking for a director that can start right away since they are scheduled to film it by next year. Soon enough, we will be able to find out which Marvel tapped to helm the long-gestated film.
