From the start of the film, we see the individual characters cope with the lockdowns and how they spent their days dealing with the pandemic, except for Birdie Jay (played by Kate Hudson), who’s throwing a party at her home despite the restrictions. And even our favorite detective, Benoit Blanc (played by Daniel Craig), is seen trapped at home playing Among Us with his friends online. So when they all receive a mysterious package, they jump at the next invitation for an exclusive getaway. And true enough, each character makes an entrance at the meeting dock as they await the superyacht that will take them to Pisceshite Island owned by their friend, the billionaire Miles Bron (played by Edward Norton). But in true fashion, each disruptor is wearing a mask (or what looks like a mask) to mean that they are still in the middle of a pandemic. In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, we see Ethan Hawke make a guest appearance as he sprays a substance onto the mouths of all the guests. The question is: what is in that bottle?

The Efficient Man sprays something into the mouths of each character in the movie and even tells Blanc “you won’t be needing that anymore” as the detective fixes his polka-dot cloth mask back after getting the oral shot. Blanc asks the mystery character what is in the shot but doesn’t get an answer. For a billionaire, it’s possible that the shot contains some sort of a coronavirus vaccine that is exclusively available to Bron. But then again, knowing how much of a fraud he is, it’s possible that the shot is simply a placebo made to make his friends think they are already safe from the virus. There’s no other instance the shot was mentioned or brought up in the movie so it could simply be something that critics will be amused by.
