Who’s Playing Grand Admiral Thrawn in the Upcoming Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Series?

Announced during Star Wars Celebration day this year is the upcoming Disney Plus series created by Jon Watts alongside Christopher Ford, Skeleton Crew, and Jude Law was revealed to star the show. Recently, speculations surfaced that Jude Law may be playing Grand Admiral Thrawn in the upcoming show. Take this as a grain of salt, for a while, as there has been no confirmation yet whether Jude Law would be playing the eponymous Grand Admiral Thrawn, but immediately after the announcement of Jude Law’s inclusion in the series, it stirred the speculation that he may actually be playing Mitth’raw’nuruodo. To date, only Jude Law is attached to the project and his role hasn’t been revealed yet. In February 2022, a report from The Illuminerdi revealed that Skeleton Crew’s casting is looking for four teenage actors and a 30 to 40-year-old actor which may be that of Jude Law’s.

At the recent D23 Expo, Lucasfilm presented to the audience a first-look image of Jude Law’s character sporting a leather jacket with a group of youngsters behind him. While he may not be blue, it’s not conclusive that he isn’t Thrawn. Mitth’raw’nuruodo, a.k.a. Grand Admiral Thrawn, is an imperial military leader from the Chiss race who led the remaining Galactic Empire to rally against the New Republic. The character even has his own trilogy novels. Codenamed as Grammar Rodeo, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is expected to arrive in 2023, forming part of the Star Wars slate on Disney Plus and the production of the series started last month in Los Angeles. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will be following the defeat of the Galactic Empire as seen in Star Wars: Episode VI, Return of the Jedi in 1983, and it is the same window in the timeline with The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. The three shows are expected to coincide at one point. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is slated for a 2023 release on Disney Plus.
