Who Originally Played Morgan in Enchanted?
In the first film, we met 6-year-old Morgan Philip, the outgoing daughter of Robert Philip (played by Patrick Dempsey). The role was originally played by Rachel Covey. In the sequel, however, many fans were shocked to discover that Covey did not return to reprise the role. Instead, Disney recast the role and booked Gabriella Baldacchino. So why did they recast Morgan? According to reports, one of the reasons behind this decision could be because of her age. When Covey starred in Enchanted, she was only 6 years old. Since the sequel took a really long time to make, the actress is now 24 years old. Disney decided to recast her role because she plays an angsty teenager in Disenchanted. Baldacchino, on the other hand, was only 19 when they started filming the movie. Another possible reason why the role was recast, as explained by PopSugar, could be because Covey has branched outside of acting. Her official website describes her as a playwright and composer, who has directed several projects in New York and Chicago. But the good news is that Covey makes a surprise cameo in the sequel. Covey is credited as “Monrolasia Girl” in Disenchanted. See if you can spot her when Giselle (played by Amy Adams) accidentally turns Monroeville into Monrolasia, a fairytale town.
