In the series, we follow Wednesday as she attends Nevermore, the alma mater of her parents, Morticia and Gomez. She mingles with werewolves, sirens, vampires, gorgons, and more as she remains an outcast amongst a sea of outcasts. Potential Wednesday Spoilers Up Ahead Welcoming Wednesday to Nevermore is Principal Larissa Weems, a tall, magnificent, and elegant woman watching over the school and its students. Principal Weems also attended Nevermore, just like Morticia and Gomez Addams. In fact, they attended at the same time. Morticia and Larissa shared a strained relationship, with Larissa harboring rather unpleasant feelings towards Morticia. But why does Larissa hate Morticia so?

Who is Larissa Weems?

Larissa Weems was the Principal of Nevermore when Wednesday started attending the school. Principal Weems may be around the same age as Morticia and Gomez because they graduated together in 1991. Her special abilities were hidden at first, but we eventually learn that she is a shapeshifter when she shapeshifts as Rowan to pretend that he left the school and gone home. Larissa is tall with silver-blonde hair. She is always a picture of perfection with her sleek hair and immaculate makeup, accentuated by her signature red lip. We often see her in classic formal outfits, exuding a professional and reliable appearance. Still, we do see her in fun clothing, like when she donned a silver dress during the Rave’n.

Why Does Principal Weems Hate Morticia Addams

So far, there has yet to be a solid instance when we find out why Larissa hates Morticia. We see several encounters, though, where Larissa seems to express unveiled hostility towards Morticia scattered throughout the show. We first meet Principal Weems conferring with Wednesday and her parents when she first arrives at Nevermore. Weems readily deflects Morticia’s compliments, like when Morticia praises Larissa as a strong presence, filling up a room like a stately Sequia. Larissa immediately counters, saying if this were the case, then Morticia was a lumberjack. Their next encounter happens when Gomez and Morticia visit the school for Parent’s Weekend, and the Addams once again confers with Principal Weems in his office. Morticia reminisces about their time together in school, flipping through their yearbook until she discovers that the page containing her picture was missing. This was the page Larissa ripped earlier and threw into the fireplace. The only explanation we ever get why Weems hates Morticia is when she recalls one Rave’n night when they were still young. Larissa asked a boy to be her date for the dance but was declined because the boy preferred going with Morticia. We never find out who the boy is or if this is the only reason Larissa hates Morticia, but the hate seems only to be one sided.

Is Principal Weems Really Dead?

By the end of the series, Wednesday convinces Weems to shapeshift as Tyler so they can fool Marilyn Thornhill, aka Laurel Gates, into confessing her evil plans. After Laurel blurts out all the evil plans she has in store, Weems reveals herself but is immediately killed after Laurel injects her with poisonous Nightshade. Principal Weems falls to the floor, dying in Wednesday’s arms. Though we see her passing, there are speculations that she will return for Season 2. In an interview with Digital Spy, Gwendoline Christie (who plays Principal Weems) teased that her character might still return for season 2. https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a42075699/wednesday-gwendoline-christie-season-2-return/ We haven’t seen her put in the ground, have we? I feel like Larissa Weems would not really be prepared to entertain or be dominated by anything as commonplace as death. All we can say is we refuse to believe Principal Larissa Weems falls that fast.
