What is Lycoris Recoil About?
In an alternate Japan, young female agents called Lycoris are tasked with keeping the country free of crime and terrorism. With missions secretly happening around oblivious citizens, Japan is a safe and peaceful country, at least on the surface. The jolly Chisato and the serious Takina are only two out of the countless Lycoris agents all over Japan. They are assigned at Cafe LycoReco, a relatively unrestrained branch of DA, the organization that the Lycoris are under. At Cafe LycoReco, Chisato and Takina lead double lives of serving coffee and sweets, and fighting bad guys. They also do more random missions like bodyguarding someone in a squirrel costume and delivering coffee beans to the local yakuza boss. With Chisato’s seemingly superhuman abilities and Takina’s aggressive fighting style, they are one unstoppable anime duo. Lycoris Recoil is a pleasant cross of slice-of-life and action. Will There Be A Lycoris Recoil Season 2?
As of August 2022, no official confirmation for a Lycoris Recoil Season 2 has been made yet. We’ll be on the lookout for any news about its renewal so make sure to check back for our updates! While there are many factors to consider before an anime gets a second season, the biggest would have to be whether or not there is a demand for it. This is why popular shows such as My Hero Academia and Bleach have been repeatedly renewed for new seasons. As Lycoris Recoil is relatively popular, it’s highly likely it’ll get a second season. Although there have been some good anime that haven’t had second seasons. Another factor would be whether the anime has enough source material to animate. In the case of Lycoris Recoil, it is an original anime that isn’t based on any manga or light novel. But a manga adaptation of LycoReco has been announced, which is expected to cover events in the first anime season and continue from where it leaves off. A light novel spin-off has also been announced. Both adaptations might end up having enough material to source for a second season. One other thing that points to the possibility of a Lycoris Recoil Season 2 is how new clues every week hint at a bigger world beyond the story’s current setting. There are a lot of things the anime hasn’t addressed yet, like how the Alan Institute works, how the Lycoris, LilyBells, and a mysterious third branch of agents make up the “Three-Legged Crow,” and if Chisato and Takina have a deeper connection than just partners. Without any official announcement yet, there is no way to know for sure when a second Lycoris Recoil will be released, or if it will even begin production. But if we were to assume its plot, lovable characters, and already-huge fan base would be its ticket to renewal, we would probably hear news about Lycoris Recoil Season 2 sometime in 2023.
